As part of the activities planned to mark the anniversary of the so-called Arab Spring, Casa Árabe is organising a research project by the Universidad Complutense and associated centres from 10 to 12 February.
The main objective of this scientific conference is to reflect on the transformations that have taken place in North Africa and the Middle East over the last decade, and to propose a critical reading of the so-called Arab Spring, through nine working groups which will cover different topics, from the social, political and economic spheres. The conference has the collaboration of five other research projects and the advice of a scientific committee of 27 professors and researchers from universities and centres in Spain, Mexico, the United Kingdom and Qatar, in addition to its three scientific coordinators: Ignacio Álvarez-Ossorio Alvariño, Isaías Barreñada Bajo and Laura Mijares Molina, professors at the UCM. The opening and plenary sessions can be followed live on Casa Árabe’s YouTube channel. For the rest of the sessions, it is necessary to connect to the Complutense University of Madrid’s Meeting platform (see links in the programme). The full programme for this event can be consulted in the website of Casa Árabe.
