The Diplomat
Juan Manuel González de Linares, current Consul General in Strasbourg received last Thursday at the Spanish Embassy in France, the Cross of Naval Merit with white distinction, “in recognition of a life dedicated to the defense of peace”.
The award was presented to him by the Spanish military attaché in Paris, Colonel Ramos, in a ceremony presided by the Spanish Ambassador, José Manuel Albares, and held at his residence.
The Cross of Naval Merit rewards the work carried out by Gonzalez de Linares when he was ambassador in Special Mission for Peacekeeping Operations. It also recognizes his career of support to the Armed Forces in international missions, such as facilitating the performance of the Navy ships in Operation Atalanta when he was Ambassador in Tanzania, serving as NATO liaison officer in Finland, or designing and implementing the UN Logistics Support Base in Quart de Poblet (Valencia).
