The Círculo Intercualtural Hispano Árabe (CIHAR) is launching its 2021, Year of the Arabic Language initiative to bring together the efforts of university departments and Arabic language study centres in order to carry out activities and raise awareness of the scope of the Arabic language. A website has been created for this initiative, which will be a meeting and information point.
The programmed activities include a Literary Reading Contest, from 18 February to 18 December, which aims to promote reading in Arabic among students of undergraduate, double degree and postgraduate studies at universities and language centres in Spain. The aim is to promote knowledge of the Arabic cultural tradition through reading and to bring Spanish classics translated into Arabic closer to the students. Saleh Hussein, assistant to the president of CIHAR, is the coordinator.
