The Spanish government yesterday expressed its satisfaction at the announcement of the resumption of talks between Turkey and Greece on the 25th in Istanbul, following the dispute that arose months ago as a result of Turkish explorations in areas of the Eastern Mediterranean in dispute with Greece and Cyprus.
A note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that “Spain actively supports the efforts to promote dialogue in the Eastern Mediterranean and hopes that these talks will lead to progress in reducing tension and stability in the area”.
Likewise, the Executive trusts that these exploratory talks, the first in five years, “will contribute to generating shared prosperity in the region, all in line with the conclusions of the December 2020 European Council”.
