On Wednesday, 11 February, the Embassy of Ireland will hold a round table at 18.30 hours in the María Zambrano Room of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Calle Alcalá, 42) to explore the literary work of writer Kate O’Brien, a key figure in 20th-century Irish literature.

The censorship he experienced during his lifetime and the lasting impact of his relationship with Spain, a country that played a crucial role in his intellectual and creative development. The discussion will also reflect the reception and relevance of their work over time, both in Ireland and internationally.

This event is held in the context of St Bridget’s Day, a key date on the Irish cultural calendar that celebrates women’s creativity, learning and contribution to Irish society. The debate on this occasion provides an opportunity to highlight Kate O’Brien’s invaluable and unparalleled contribution to Irish and European cultural life. Free registration on Eventbrite.
