The Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) has celebrated the signing of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, “a historic milestone that consolidates the creation of the world’s largest open trade area and marks a decisive step in strengthening strategic relations between both regions.”

“This agreement represents a key opportunity to deepen bi-regional cooperation, promote sustainable development, boost economic exchange, and reinforce the shared values that unite Europe and Latin America,” the organization stated in a press release.

“In the current international context, the alliance between the European Union and Mercosur takes on even greater relevance, as it champions multilateralism, dialogue, and integration as pillars for a more stable, inclusive, and prosperous common future,” it continued.

“The OEI reiterates its commitment to continue contributing, within its sphere of action, to bringing both regions closer together and to promoting initiatives that foster deeper integration with a real impact on Ibero-American citizens,” it concluded.
