La Filarmónica presents pianist Fülöp Ránki and music from Hungary

On Wednesday 17 December at 7.30 p.m., the La Filarmónica Concert Society will present the young Hungarian pianist Fülöp Ránki in the Chamber Room of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.

Thanks to Fülöp Ránki, who makes his debut in the Philharmonic, the concert attendants will be able to get closer to the musical life of Hungary and its great composers. This central European country has an enormous tradition, richness and musical density. As an example, the capital Budapest has eleven symphony orchestras, several of them professional. The same train company of the country has the MÁV, professional orchestra founded in 1945 to which have visited great soloists and international conductors like Zoltán Kocsis, Dëszo Ránki or Maxim Venguérov.

But what really characterizes and makes unique the Hungarian musical life are its great composers: Franz Liszt, who connects the country with musical romanticism and who enriches and evolves the composition and performance of the piano; Béla Bartók, who created a new musical language inspired by popular music and brings his country to musical modernity; and Zoltán Kodály, who aside from being a great composer creates a system of musical pedagogy that is used all over the world.

The concert program will feature the Suite Op. 14 – Dedication by Béla Bartók; The Sun is no more than a morning star, by Barnabás Dukay; the Dances De Marosszék – Lamento Transilvano, by Zoltán Kodály, and Consolaciones 1-6 – Sonata in B minor, by Franz Liszt. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
