Until next December 13, returns to the Teatro Fernán Gómez.Centro Cultural de la Villa de Madrid the festival Grandes del Góspel, which is already an inescapable appointment and a Christmas tradition in the Madrid culture, with renewed brilliance to start its XXXI edition that promises, Once again, lift up the hearts and shake the souls.
Having reached in 2024 historical attendance figures that exceeded all previous records, with more than 10,000 tickets sold, the festival faces its 2025 edition with enthusiasm, marked by the artistic quality, spiritual depth and living tradition of the afro-american gospel.
On this occasion, the cycle will bring together four choral formations of international excellence, exponents of the purest and most vibrant spirit of gospel. From the city of songs and the cradle of jazz, Spirit of New Orleans Gospel Choir will bring to the Madrid stages the unmistakable energy of sounds born between the alleys of Louisiana, where music mixes with history and devotion.
From the heart of southern America, the powerful and moving voices of the Charleston Gospel Choir and South Carolina Gospel Choir (pictured) will fill the theater with strength, hope and redemption in a musical manifestation as ancestral as it is necessary.
And as a finishing touch, one of the most acclaimed and emblematic groups of the genre returns to Europe: the Chicago Mass Choir, universally known as the true ambassadors of gospel. On this new tour, they present a show titled Sweet Home Chicago, a heartfelt tribute to the city that saw their birth and the indelible legacy of the pioneers of urban gospel. This musical journey retraces the great classics of the 1930s, 40s and 50s, when Chicago’s African-American churches and communities shaped a musical style that, born of pain and faith, has transcended all geographical and cultural boundaries to move, to the present day, to audiences from every corner of the planet.
