With a vibrant staging, original music and a universal story about childhood, hope and the search for a home, arrives at the Teatro de La Latina in Madrid the musical Oliver Twist, a theatrical proposal aspires to leave its mark on the hearts of the public.
This musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic is a family-friendly production that combines emotion, tenderness and great musical moments. Oliver Twist is coming to become the new great family musical of the season.
The novel, which tells the story of hope and overcoming of Oliver Twist, an orphan in 19th century London, is now part of the popular culture and imagination of both adults and young people, thanks also to its numerous film, stage and television versions.
Pedro Villora, renowned playwright and writer, signs the script and lyrics of the songs, bringing his unique sensitivity and experience to this adaptation. Among his most outstanding works, Víllora was responsible for writing the successful theatrical version of Los chicos del coro, currently on the stage with more than 250,000 spectators, in addition to other renowned adaptations (Calderón, Emilia Pardo Bazán, Galdós, Wilde…) which have consolidated their prestige in the theatrical field.
The music is signed by Gerardo Gardelin, a prestigious Argentine composer and musical director with an outstanding career in the world of musical theatre. Gardelin has participated in major international productions such as Chicago, The Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia! , Beauty and the Beast, The Mad Addams, The Producers and Madison Bridges. With previous experience in Oliver Twist in Argentina, Gardelin will be at the forefront of high-level musicians who will perform live the music of the show, ensuring a unique and unforgettable experience. Finally, the stage direction will be in charge of Juan Luis Iborra, contrasted director and theatrical playwright. The interpretative cast consists of more than 30 actors, divided between children and adults, will give life to the unforgettable characters of this classic story.
