Next Monday, November 24 at 12.30, Casa América presents in its Gabriela Mistral amphitheater the event Migrant Talent: the capital cities as a destination for Ibero-American talent, organized by the Union of Ibero-American Capitals (UCCI) in the framework of its 43rd anniversary, together with the City of Madrid.

The Ibero-American cities have been meeting points throughout their history. In them, migration has brought not only new hands and talents, but also new ideas, tastes, languages and ways of looking at the world. This constant mix is one of the driving forces behind its cultural vitality, economic dynamism and social resilience.

The event, which seeks to highlight Ibero-American talent from different experiences connecting from Madrid, will begin with the presentation of the report Migrant Talent: capital cities as destinations for Ibero-American talent, one of the 16 UCCI cooperation projects that highlights the potential of international talent in our capital cities and the key role of local governments in promoting it.

It will then take place the conversation Ibero-american talent: experiences connecting from Madrid, which will have the participation of the mayor of Madrid and co-president of the UCCI, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, together with four outstanding Ibero-American personalities who have found in Madrid a space to develop their careers: Juana Acosta (Colombian actress) -in the photo-, Carmen Posadas (Uruguayan writer), Óscar Martínez (Argentine actor) and Rita Sánchez (chef and Mexican culinary researcher). The dialogue will address issues such as Madrid’s opportunities for Ibero-American talent, identity and belonging, links between our cities and the role of culture as a bridge between societies. This conversation will be moderated by Elizabeth Prado, coordinator of Institutional Relations and Partnership Management at the BBVA Microfinance Foundation.
