Casa Asia de Madrid presents next Tuesday, November 11 at 6 pm the conference Haiku poets living in harmony with nature: the haiku spreading around the world, in commemoration of the death of the haiku poet of the Edo period, Kaga no Chiyo-jo.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of Kaga no Chiyo-jo’s death. His verses, inspired by the morning glory flower, express a deep coexistence with nature and continue to be admired all over the world.

Considered a pioneer in the internationalization of haiku, her legacy is still alive in contemporary poets.

During the conference, speaker Yoshiharu Fujiwara, general secretary of the Haiku Contest for Japan: Samurai Hasekura, will explore the role that haiku plays in strengthening international cultural exchange, based on his extensive experience in haiku contests and projects in different countries.

In addition, there will be a special message from Japan by Takeaki Hori, economic anthropologist, former director and executive director of PEN International, currently vice-president of the same organization, who will accompany the attendees from afar. This event is organized by Fundación Japón Madrid and the Executive Committee of the Haiku Contest for Japan: Samurai Hasekura. Free entry. Requires prior registration via the following link.
