The production, which will be on the air on 24, 25 and 26 October and also on 29 and 30 November, premiered in 1980 and is still in full force; this song of love for the theatre is a portrait of the miseries of the artistic professions, of the place that culture occupies in society and of the ill-lives of those people who amuse and entertain us.
When Ñaque o de piojos y actores premiered in 1980 at the Festival de Teatre de Sitges, it was an instant success. He spent weeks in the great hall of the Teatro Español in Madrid and performed more than 600 performances over several years, with different cast. The work was above all disruptive by the dialogue that Rios and Solano establish with the public, who acts as a third performer.
Ñaque was the name given to certain itinerant theatre formations in the Golden Age, those which were composed of only two actors. Thus, Ñaque o de piojos y actores is a work that praises the theater, comedians and comedians. A praise to the Spanish Golden Age, and all its lesser-known authors and playwrights. It also points out, in terms of humor, the poverty and precariousness of the artistic world, the harsh living conditions of those people who entertain and entertain society. A precariousness which, although mutated in its forms, resonates suspiciously in the current reality.
