This morning at 11 o’clock, the embassies of Belgium and Honduras, together with the Fundación Leopoldo III inaugurate the photographic exhibition Guardians of the Forests, in the cultural space of Montaña de los Gatos, in Retiro Park (Madrid).
The exhibition is a tribute to the environmental and artistic legacy of King Leopold III of Belgium, through a selection of photographs taken between 1929 and 1973 during his scientific expeditions to tropical forests in 13 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
This project is part of the Pro Tempore Presidency of Honduras to the Coalition of Nations with Tropical Forests (Coalition for Rainforest Nations) and aims to raise awareness about the importance of conserving tropical ecosystems at a global level.
The event will be attended by Princess Emerald of Belgium, promoter of the exhibition and daughter of King Leopold III. The exhibition will be open to the public until Sunday, 19 October.
With this exhibition, Belgium and Honduras reaffirm the ties of friendship, cooperation and commitment to environmental sustainability, sharing with the city of Madrid a space of culture, memory and ecological awareness.
