The Instituto Cervantes and the private Chinese institution UOW College of Hong Kong (UOWCHK) have signed a collaboration agreement to promote Spanish language and culture in Hong Kong beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.

“Thanks to this agreement, cultural enrichment will be fostered, strengthening Hong Kong’s ties with the Spanish-speaking world,” the Instituto Cervantes stated in a press release.

Under the agreement, the Instituto Cervantes will provide students with access to its internationally accredited courses, teacher training, and educational and cultural resources.

For its part, UOWCHK—part of the University of Wollongong in Australia—will offer Spanish courses on its Tai Wai campus, giving students the opportunity to learn the language through a curriculum endorsed by the Instituto Cervantes’ quality standards. The courses will include basic levels, DELE exam preparation, and access to the AVE Global online learning platform.

The courses will follow the Instituto Cervantes Curriculum Plan, ensuring quality and globally recognized standards. Furthermore, Cervantes will collaborate with UOWCHK in the selection and training of teachers, ensuring teaching excellence, always aligned with the general approach of the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Enrolled students will receive certificates upon completion, free access to their regular DELE preparation courses, and membership in the Instituto Cervantes Shanghai e-library.
