The painter Paul Gauguin and the young cellist Luka Coetzee (pictured) will meet on 25 June at 8.30 pm at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid for a unique experience, organized by the La Filarmónica Concert Society, It combines an exhibition and the debut concert of a young artist who, no doubt, will surprise and captivate the assistant. At the end of the event, a cocktail will be offered in the museum garden.

Born in Paris, Paul Gauguin went around the world, from Martinique to French Polynesia, looking for the source of inspiration that allowed him to bequeath the paintings we all know today and that led him to celebrity. The young cellist Luka Coetzee was born in Calgary to a family of musicians who had emigrated from South Africa. Later she traveled to Europe to train. In 2022, she won the prestigious Pablo Casals Prize that has projected her into the world of music. The two are nomadic artists whose paths will coincide in this musical/artistic appointment.

At 19.30 hours will be held the opening of doors and free visit of the exhibition of the painter born in Martinique, and at 20.30 hours will begin the concert in the auditorium, with the pieces of Dall’Abaco, Capricho núm. 2 in G minor; Bach, Suite for cello no. 3, in C major, BWV 1009; Cassadó, Suite for cello solo in D minor, and Penderecki, Suite for cello solo. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
