<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) has announced the MAEC-AECID scholarships for the Diplomatic School Program and for Residencies at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, with a budget of more than €731,000.</strong></h4> With 78 editions under their belt, the MAEC-AECID scholarships are part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' initiatives, through the Agency, to promote human capital training. On the one hand, according to the Official State Gazette reported this Friday, the 2025/2026 MAEC-AECID scholarships for the Diplomatic School Program, with a budget of €156,420, are intended for citizens of countries in Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the Philippines and Ukraine. The application period is open from June 9th to June 20th. The program offers scholarships to complete the 2025-2026 Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Diplomacy and International Relations from the Spanish Diplomatic School to public officials or staff working in the public systems of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay (Latin America and the Caribbean); Angola, Algeria, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Libya, Lebanon, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Palestine, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe (Africa and the Middle East); the Philippines, and Ukraine. Furthermore, the MAEC-AECID Residency Grants at the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome for the 2025-2026 academic year will allow creators, artists, and researchers to live together for a period of between four and eight months at the Academy, sharing ideas and carrying out their projects. The approved amount is €574,600, and up to 19 grants are expected to be awarded to artists and researchers in three separate categories: Spanish, Latin American, and European Union (non-Spanish). The grants can be applied for from June 9 to 20. Since its inception a century and a half ago, the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome (RAER) has been a center for artistic creation and knowledge production, hosting more than a thousand residents to date. For the past ten years, the AECID has also funded the projects of fellows at the Academy, making it an essential instrument of Spanish cultural policy abroad.
