Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministers José Manuel Albares and Margarita Robles will meet in Brussels this Tuesday for the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), which will address, among other issues, the implementation of the White Paper on European Defense and the ReArm Europe Plan.
The morning session of the Council will bring together EU defense ministers and will be followed by a session of EU foreign affairs ministers in the afternoon. The dual meeting will be chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
In its configuration of defense ministers, the FAC will address military support for Ukraine after an informal exchange of views via videoconference with Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Rustem Umerov, in the presence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It will also discuss the implementation of the White Paper on European Defense 2030 and the ReArm Europe Plan.
In the afternoon, the foreign ministers will discuss the war in Ukraine, following a videoconference exchange with their Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, and will discuss the latest developments in the Middle East and Syria. The double meeting of the European Defence Agency (EDA) includes an informal breakfast and lunch with the European Defence Agency.
