‘Pakistan: a culture to be discovered’, the Embassy exposes in Granada

Exhibition Pakistan: a culture to discover is the name of the exhibition that presents from tomorrow Wednesday at 18 hours the Embassy of Pakistan in the Auditorio Manuel de Falla of Granada (Paseo de los Mártires, s/n). The opening will be attended by Marifrán Carazo Villalonga, Mayor of Granada, and Zahoor Ahmed, Ambassador of Pakistan.

With this exhibition, the visitor is offered a unique opportunity to immerse himself in this universe rich in traditions, colors and flavors that Pakistan offers. From the mystique of Sufism to vibrant traditional costumes, through the thrill of hiking in the mountains and the delight of a cuisine steeped in history, this country will provide you with a diversity capable of transforming your senses and enriching your soul.

Visiting Pakistan is to enter a scene of contrasts, where modernity merges with tradition and tourism becomes an educational and transformative experience to enrich our lives.

The visitor will discover how tolerance, coexistence and respect for customs are values that emerge at each meeting, revealing a culture that celebrates the diversity and richness of its heritage, while facing continuous challenges.

You will also see that Pakistan is much more than a country: it is a melting pot of ancient traditions, artistic manifestations and contrasts which merge into a vibrant cultural experience. They will delve into a thousand-year history and witness how diversity and resilience combine to offer a unique panorama of South Asia.

The Embassy of Pakistan invites you to this immersive journey in which you will explore Pakistan through these photographs. They will witness customs, cultural heritage, diversity, tolerance towards minorities, sports and outdoor activities such as tourism, hiking and typical gastronomy. You will appreciate how the clothing and the regional colors are merged with the conviviality and the respect for the customs and the nature, all this framed in the beauty of its landscapes and in the conservation of the classic that makes up this great country, still unknown to many.

During the visit to the exhibition, you will see how the cultural richness of Pakistan is reflected in customs forged over centuries by influences from ancient civilizations such as the Indus Valley and Persian, Islamic and Mongolian traditions. Every corner has a living history, from the religious ceremonies of the Sufi shrines to the festive rituals that celebrate the arrival of Eid or spring.

Pakistan’s diversity is one of its most fascinating features. With a multitude of languages, ethnicities and religions coexisting in the same territory, the country presents itself as a constantly evolving cultural mosaic. Urdu, the national language, is mixed with regional languages such as Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto and Baluchi, reflecting the complexity of its identity. In addition, it should be recalled that, in some sectors, initiatives have been promoted for tolerance and inter-ethnic dialogue to integrate minorities and give them a voice.

They will find it enriching to interact with the local population and be part of these cultural encounters. Traditional markets and craft fairs are ideal places to learn about ethnic diversity and the customs of each community, thus fostering respect for plurality.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s sporting and adventurous spirit is manifested in its traditional and modern activities. This can be seen in folk competitions and indigenous sports, as well as the growing popularity of hiking in the north of the country. Pakistan is an ideal destination for adventure lovers. You can enjoy a hike in the Hunza valley or walk the memorable mountain trails of the Karakorum range, activities that will not only connect you with landscapes of incomparable beauty, will also allow them to experience the authenticity of Pakistani rural life.

Pakistani cuisine is also a feast of flavors and aromas reflecting the influence of diverse cultures. Dishes such as biryani, nihari and kebabs are representative of a cuisine rich in spices and tradition. In every bite you will taste the fusion of Eastern and Western culinary techniques, the use of fresh ingredients and creativity and care in food preparation. It is very tempting to dare to taste street food in the cities; stop and discover how, at each family stall and restaurant, recipes are offered that have been passed on from generation to generation.

Clothing in Pakistan is as diverse as its geography. Each region has its own traditional costumes, which combine vivid colours, intricate embroidery and designs that underline the identity of its people. Pakistani fabrics and fashion are not only expressions of aesthetics, but also symbols of belonging and tradition. Visiting the bazaars and museums of popular art will allow them to know first hand the traditional clothing, and they will notice how color is used to transmit emotions and tell stories, because vibrant tones predominate in the festivities and everyday life of the inhabitants.

Coexistence in Pakistan is a complex and fascinating subject. Despite the tensions and socio-political challenges, there are spaces where tolerance and respect for customs are fundamental pillars. Participate in community activities and inter-ethnic festivals; listen to local stories and legends to understand how differences are negotiated. They will witness the construction of a coexistence based on respect and solidarity.

Pakistan is known for its stunning landscapes: snowy mountains, lush valleys and mysterious deserts. Witness the natural beauty of the country, reflecting its geographical and climatic diversity, which is one of its main tourist attractions. They should be reminded that the preservation of their architectural and natural heritage is a permanent effort to keep alive the historical and cultural roots of the country.
