The Italian Embassy will celebrate the 9th edition of the Italian Design Day (IDD) on Wednesday 19 February with an intervention by architect Mario Cucinella at the Ateneo de Madrid (calle Prado, 21).
The famous Italian architect, in conversation with the director of the Spanish magazine Diseño Interior, Pilar Marcos, will develop the main themes related to the title of IDD2025, Inequalities. Design for a better life.
Mario Cucinella was born in Palermo in 1960 and graduated from the University of Genoa in 1986 with a degree in architecture. In 1992 he founded MCA -Mario Cucinella Architects in Paris, an architecture and design studio that today has offices in Bologna and Milan and of which he is also its creative director. In 2015, Mario Cucinella founded SOS (School of Sustainability), a school for young professionals who have just graduated and which aims to provide them with the tools they need to tackle environmental issues with an open approach, Holistic and research-led. The importance of his work and his continued commitment as an architect and educator in environmental and social issues have been recognized with the International Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects (2016) and the American Institute of Architects’ Honorary Fellowship (2017).
