Casa Asia de Madrid (calle Mayor, 69) presents next Thursday 13 February at 7 pm the colloquium Introduction to Hispanic Filipino literature. On the occasion of the publication of the book of the same name (Routledge, 2024), three researchers will discuss literature in Spanish produced in the Philippines. Free activity upon registration at this link.
Introduction to Hispanic-Filipino literature brings together the knowledge of multiple scholars experts in Filipino literature in Spanish. Chronologically organized, it addresses current debates and offers a broad overview of the Filipino literary corpus. The chapters cover a range of literary movements and time periods, from the Magellan-Elcano expedition to the present day, and in some cases represent the first study made on the texts they address.
Emilio de Miguel, director of the Centro Casa Asia-Madrid, will welcome you and participate in the event Rocío Ortuño, UNED; Beatriz Álvarez Tardío, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, and Julia Chang, Cornell University.
