On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the writer Carmen Martín Gaite (1925-2000), the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, in collaboration with the Teatro de La Abadía, will organize a dramatized reading of El otoño de Poughkeepsie (Autumn of Poughkeepsie), one of the most personal texts of his work, included in one of his Cuadernos de todo (Notebooks of everything). This story full of pain, confusion and anxiety will come to life in the mouth of the actress Isabel Ordaz, directed by Beatriz Jaén.
The reading will be accompanied by a conversation between José Teruel, a scholar of Carmen Martín Gaite and coordinator of various activities in connection with her centenary, such as the exhibition Vision de New York at the Casa del Lector; and Lucía Miranda and María Folguera, who adapt and direct, respectively, two novels by the author that will soon be staged in La Abadía: Little Hood in Manhattan and The Back Room.
Admission to the event is free by booking a seat at this link. It is also possible to follow the event online here.
