The Spanish Government expressed on Thursday its “consternation” over the aircraft accident that occurred on Wednesday night in Washington, when American Airlines flight 5342, from the city of Wichita (Kansas) with 64 people on board, collided with a Black Hawk military helicopter while approaching the runway.
“My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the tragic aircraft accident in Washington DC,” declared the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, through social networks. “Our thoughts are with the people of the United States at this difficult time,” he added.
“We received with consternation the news of the tragic plane crash that occurred last night in the United States, near Washington DC,” wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also on social networks. “We convey to the families of the victims, to the people and to the government of the United States our deepest condolences,” it concluded.
