The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has resumed the selection process for the position of director of the Spanish Academy in Rome, after the previous one was annulled as a result of the appeal filed by one of the candidates due to technical errors committed during the first call.
The Official State Gazette (BOE) published this Thursday the call for the provision, by the free designation system, of the position of director of the Spanish Academy in Rome. In accordance with the resolution of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, dated January 24, 2025, the selection process will begin in January 2025 and its maximum duration will be six months, from the date on which the deadline for submitting applications ends.
On April 25, 2024, the BOE published a first call for the selection process for the position of director of the Spanish Academy in Rome, dependent on the Ministry. However, the new team at the Undersecretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later warned that the call for the selection process contained technical errors. For this reason, on October 15, it adopted a Resolution, published in the BOE on October 21, which corrected the initial resolution of April 8.
As a result of this, according to sources familiar with the procedure informed The Diplomat, one of the applicants filed an appeal requesting the annulment of the correction of errors published and the selection process followed and the call for a new selection process.
Finally, according to diplomatic sources indicated to The Diplomat, the previous selection process was annulled, so the Ministry has proceeded to announce a new call.
