Asian cinema returns to the MK2 Cine Paz (calle de Fuencarral, 125) with a cycle entitled New Views of Asian Cinema and a programme organized by Casa Asia which runs from 18 January to 29 March every Saturday at 12 o’clock.

Although it seems a cliché to say that Spanish distributors are increasingly interested in having an ever-growing stock of titles from the Asian continent, they have In general, Asian cinema is increasingly present not only at national and international festivals but also in Spanish cinemas.

The eleven titles that will be available between January and March 2025 come from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Korea, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, and were produced between 2006 and 2023. Motherless, by Sayyed Morteza Fatemi, opens this quarter’s programme. The relationship presented maintains interest in social drama and gender issues, from a multiplicity of perspectives that responds to the cultural identity of its protagonists.

That’s what we are told by films like the ones selected. These are titles such as: Motherless (Iran), Saatao (Bangladesh), Luxury Car (China), Fall Guy (Philippines), Dust (India), Kamil (Pakistan), Where Would you Like to Go (Korea), Blaze (Australia), Lost Days (Mongolia), Videophobia (Japan), Poet (Kazakhstan). These announced titles provide our vision of a world that would be difficult to access without literature and film. The schedule can be found at this link.
