Javier Parrondo has announced, in Spanish and Guaraní, the beginning of his mission as ambassador of Spain in Paraguay, which he faces “with enthusiasm” and “at the service of Spain and the Spanish in a sister country.”
“Today I begin my mission at the head of the Spanish Embassy in Paraguay, a challenge that I face with enthusiasm and with the same desire as always to learn. At the service of Spain and the Spaniards in a sister country,” he wrote on December 30 through his account on the social network X.
“Ko árape añepyrũ che mission @EmbEspParaguay akãme, peteĩ challenge ambohovakéva kyre’ỹme ha jepiveguáicha añemoaranduse. Hey, service Spain has Spanish-kuérape peteî tetã sister-pe,” he also wrote, in the Guaraní language, on the same social network.
Parrondo, who until now held the position of general director of Casa Asia, was appointed by the Council of Ministers on December 10. He replaces Carmen Castiella Ruiz de Velasco, the new director of the Embassy of Paraguay. Diplomatic advisor to King Felipe VI.
Born in Madrid on November 12, 1977, Parrondo graduated in Law from the Carlos III University of Madrid and joined the Diplomatic Service in 2004. He has been assigned to the Permanent Representation of Spain to the United Nations. United Nations with headquarters in Geneva and in the Embassies of Hanoi (Vietnam) and Kabul (Afghanistan) and has been deputy consul at the Consulate General of Spain in Jerusalem.
In addition, he has worked in the Office of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and in the Sub-Directorate General for the Middle East. He has also been responsible for the Department of Cooperation with the Arab World and Asia at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Since August 2018 he was assigned to the Spanish Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand), prior to his appointment as general director of Casa Asia in 2019.
