The Fundación Excelentia ends its concerts for this year with the 9th Symphony of Ludwig von Beethoven (when it will be 200 years since its premiere on 7 May 1824) with his performance on December 31 at 12 o’clock in the Teatro Real de la Plaza de Oriente in Madrid.
The concert program is completed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Coronation Mass, written for the Easter celebrations in March 1779. It seems that the nickname of this mass is due to the fact that it was performed in Vienna during the celebrations for the coronation of Emperor Leopold II in 1791 or that of Emperor Francis II in 1792.
The Santa Cecilia Classical Orchestra and the Sociedad Coral Excelentia de Madrid will be conducted by Kynan Johns, with soprano Ekaterina Sadovnikova, mezzo-soprano Nefeli Kotseli, tenor Dimitris Paksoglou and bass David Cervera.
