This afternoon at 7 pm, the Instituto Cervantes of Madrid (calle Barquillo, 4) presents, in collaboration with the Centro Cultural Inca Garcilaso, a round table to pay tribute to the Peruvian visual artist, poet, novelist, playwright and essayist, Jorge Eduardo Eielson.
This tribute is made on the occasion of the centenary of his birth (Lima, 1924-Milan, 2006).
In commemoration of the first centenary of the birth of the notable Peruvian poet and artist Jorge Eduardo Eielson (in the photo©María Mulas), a ceremony is held to honour him, in which Ms Luisa Turell Guilleumas, Spanish Philology degree from the Complutense University of Madrid, will deal with the book Poet in Milan (Visor, 2024) and will dialogue with the cultural attaché of the Embassy of Peru, Alonso Ruiz Rosas.
Among the recent books by Eielson published in Spain, it is worth mentioning Poeta en Milán (Visor, 2024), which was preceded by a Poet en Roma (2009) and gathers part of his written poetry, sum of the poems that he was writing with early maturity since his youth years in Lima and continued in his long decades of European residence.
The event is free until full capacity. It is possible to follow the event online at this link.
