On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which is commemorated every year on 29 November, Casa Árabe carries out various activities this week.
Since 1977, the UN has commemorated the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on 29 November each year. The date was chosen for its importance to the Palestinian people because three decades earlier, on that same day in 1947, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 181, later known as the «partition resolution», which stipulated the creation of a «Jewish state» and an «Arab state» in Palestine, with Jerusalem as an international city. Of the two states envisaged in that resolution, only one has been created so far: Israel. This anniversary allows the international community to focus its attention on the fact that the Palestinian question remains unresolved.
Throughout the week, two banners with the Palestinian flag will be hung on the facade of the headquarters of Casa Árabe in Madrid. The activities scheduled for this commemoration are as follows:
Tuesday 26th
– Presentation of Things you may have hidden in my ear, by the Palestinian poet Mosab Abu Toha.
Wednesday 27
– Theatre: Monólogo Foot, by Ismail Khalidi, directed by Samy Khalil.
Friday the 29th
– Fourth Palestinian embroidery workshop.
– Screening of Bye Bye Tiberias, by Lina Soualem (at the headquarters of Casa Árabe in Córdoba).
Saturday 30th
– Palestinian embroidery marathon.
