The Government has appointed Alicia Cocero as Chief of Staff to the State Secretary for the European Union, Fernando Sampedro.
Alicia Cocero was appointed by the Council of Ministers on August 25, effective the following day, and the appointment was published this Friday in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
A graduate in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and a member of the Diplomatic Corps since 2006, Alicia Cocero has served at the Spanish Embassies in Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, and Finland, and at the Spanish Consulate General in Quito. Her most recent post abroad was as Advisor at the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union.
In Madrid, she has worked in the Deputy Directorate General for Andean Community Countries as a Technical Advisor, in the Deputy Directorate General for the Philippines, Southeast Asia and the Pacific as Head of Area, and in the Deputy Directorate General for North America. She has been awarded the Order of Civil Merit.
