The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has conveyed its condolences to the people and government of Japan for the victims and destruction caused by the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that has killed at least 25 people on the island of Kyushu (southwest Japan), especially in Kumamoto Prefecture.
“We extend our condolences to the people and government of Japan for the victims and destruction caused by the earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture and other locations on the island of Kyushu,” the Ministry wrote on social media. “We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and success to the rescue efforts,” it added.
“On behalf of the people and government of Japan, we are very grateful and encouraged by Spain’s show of support and solidarity, and we will continue our rescue and assistance efforts in the affected areas,” responded the Japanese Embassy.

At least 35 people have died as a result of the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Kyushu Island on Tuesday, July 28, according to the latest figures from Kumamoto Prefecture, the area most affected by the quake.
