The Government grants €500,000 to the Toledo International Center for Peace for its activities in 2026

The Diplomat The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday the direct grant of €500,000, on an exceptional basis, to the Toledo International Center for Peace (CITpax) for the development of its activities during 2026. Specifically, the €500,000 grant will be used to finance five CITpax projects. CITpax is a non-profit foundation whose objective is to contribute to conflict prevention and resolution and peacebuilding through the implementation of actions for social transformation, development, and institutional strengthening. The first project is the Workshop on Negotiation and Mediation in Peace Processes with High-Level Women, in collaboration with the Conflict Management Initiative (CMI); the second project is the Arab Mediation Forum (FAM), in collaboration with Casa Árabe, the Elcano Royal Institute, and the Global Institute for Strategic Research; The third project is the 5th Sahel-Europe Dialogue Forum, in collaboration with the Francisco de Vitoria University. The grant also includes funding for several regional seminars on Sahel issues: the expert conference in collaboration with Casa África and the Directorate General for Africa, to be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the meeting of civil society organizations in collaboration with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB), and the Directorate General for Africa, to be held in Dakar. The fifth project is the Dialogues on Stabilization in the Middle East. According to the Council of Ministers, “the development of the Center’s various activities aligns with the maintenance and promotion of international peace and security, the fostering of strong and legitimate multilateral institutions, the promotion and consolidation of political systems based on the rule of law and respect for fundamental rights and public freedoms, and the security and well-being of Spain and its citizens.”
