The Council of Ministers authorized on Tuesday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commission to the state-owned company Tecnologías y Servicios Agrarios (TRAGSATEC) for technical assistance at the 30th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, for an estimated amount of €29,020,236.02.
According to the Government, the purpose of the commission is to provide technical assistance to the State Secretariat for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World (SEPICEM) in connection with the 30th Ibero-American Summit, and more specifically, for contracting the main services and supplies necessary for the preparation and organization of the Summit.
TRAGSATEC is a subsidiary of EMPRESA DE TRANSFORMACIÓN AGRARIA, S.A. (TRAGSA), a Spanish public company integrated into the State Industrial Holdings Company (SEPI), whose international strategy focuses on developing projects in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
TRAGSA, which participates in more than one hundred rural and environmental development projects of Spanish cooperation in countries in North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, was established by a Council of Ministers Agreement on June 2, 1989, and its share capital is wholly publicly owned.
“The Ibero-American Summit is the main instrument of international cooperation among the countries of the Ibero-American Community,” the Council of Ministers emphasized. These summits bring together, every two years, 22 Member States from Latin America and Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Europe.
In November 2024, Spain assumed the Ibero-American Pro Tempore Secretariat (SPT) for the 2025-2026 period. As a result, Spain will host the next 30th Summit in Madrid on November 4 and 5, 2026. “Organizing the Summit will involve a large-scale logistical and operational deployment and represents a highly important event for Spain’s image and interests,” the Council of Ministers concluded.
