The Magdalena Palace in Santander will host the fourth edition of the course “Spain in the World” from July 20 to 24, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP).

The course will bring together academics, foreign policy officials, analysts from international think tanks, and emerging voices to discuss what role Spain and the European Union can play in a more competitive, fragmented, and less predictable world.

Bruno Maçães, Pol Morillas, Samir Saran, Elizabeth Sidiropoulos, Matías Spektor, Comfort Ero, Andrea Rizzi, Federico Torres Muro, Alberto Ucelay, Ali Vaez, Marcos Alonso, Jeremy Cliffe, İlke Toygür, Federico Steinberg, Fabian Zuleeg, Andrés Allamand, Valeria Moy, and Tristan Aureau are among the speakers, with the full list to be announced in the coming days.

The 2026 edition coincides with the 40th anniversary of Spain’s accession to the European Communities, providing an opportunity to reflect on the future of the European project. Other events on Spain’s international agenda will also be addressed during the sessions, such as the Ibero-American Summit in Madrid, scheduled for November 4 and 5, and the instability in the Middle East.

The course will be inaugurated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and will include the participation of the four Secretaries of State of the Ministry: Diego Martínez Belío, Fernando Sampedro, Susana Sumelzo and Eva Granados.
