This Wednesday, June 3, at 7:30 p.m., the fourth edition of “Europa Ilustra” will open at the Casa del Lector (in the Matadero Madrid). This initiative of the European Union of Cultural Institutes (EUNIC) offers a selection of works by eleven illustrators from various European countries.
The exhibition, one of the most important events for contemporary illustration in the capital, offers a visual journey through styles, techniques, and narratives that reflect the creative richness of the current European art scene. It will be on display until the end of September. Both the opening and the exhibition are free and open to the public without reservation.

“Europa Ilustra” champions illustration as an artistic language capable of building bridges between cultures and sensibilities. The initiative is part of EUNIC Madrid’s commitment to promoting an open and diverse European culture in constant dialogue with contemporary society.
The exhibition brings together works from Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, and Wallonia-Brussels, offering a diverse perspective that blends fantasy, visual poetry, graphic experimentation, and reflections on identity, memory, and nature.
Austrian artist Anna Horak, Finnish artist Miila Westin, French artist Pauline Barzilaï, and French-speaking Belgian artist Gaya Wisniewski will be present at the opening to discuss their work.
