The State Secretariat for International Cooperation has announced the 2026 grants for foundations and associations affiliated with political parties to carry out activities planned within the framework of the Cooperation Master Plan.
The resolution, signed on May 19 by the State Secretary for International Cooperation, Eva María Granados Galiano, and published two days later in the Official State Gazette (BOE), establishes that the beneficiaries of these grants will be foundations and associations affiliated with political parties with parliamentary representation at the national level.
Specifically, subsidies will be granted for activities that contribute to international cooperation for sustainable development, the global promotion of democracy, and the acceleration of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda goals, in a manner aligned and consistent with the provisions of the Spanish Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Global Solidarity Master Plan 2024-2027.
These activities may include training, advisory, analytical, and discussion initiatives that strengthen the contribution of these foundations and associations to achieving the aforementioned goals internationally, always within the framework of promoting the 2030 Agenda, international human rights law, and the promotion of democratic, participatory, and inclusive systems.
The total funding for these subsidies amounts to €800,000, and the amount received by each applicant may not exceed €500,000. Therefore, the same amount as in 2022 and 2023 is maintained for each foundation. However, this amount remains lower than the €900,000 granted between 2012 and 2019 (except in 2016, when the then acting government distributed around €785,000 among the foundations and associations of the political parties). In 2020, during the first year of the pandemic, these subsidies were not offered.
Applications will be scored taking into account both the technical evaluation of the project and the total number of seats in the Congress of Deputies and the Senate held by the political party to which the foundation belongs at the time of publication of this call for proposals. The resulting percentage value of these two factors will determine the amounts distributed to the beneficiary entities.
