Foreign Ministry will allocate €145 million to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS

Eduardo González The Council of Ministers authorized on Tuesday multi-year voluntary contributions from Spain to twelve international organizations, programs, and funds for a total of €264,820,000, of which €145 million corresponds to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFA). “In accordance with its mandate and within its budgetary resources, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) regularly makes voluntary contributions to various international organizations, programs, and funds, as well as other international entities,” the Council of Ministers stated. Through this agreement, the Council of Ministers authorizes twelve voluntary contributions from Spain to the following international organizations, programs, and funds, as well as other international entities, for a total amount of €264,820,000. Leading these voluntary contributions is the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFAM), with a multi-year contribution of €145,000,000. Following these, with €20 million each, are the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the World Food Programme (WFP), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will allocate a multi-year contribution of 19,650,000 euros to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), fifteen million to the Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (AF), nine million euros to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), five million to the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), 4.57 million to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), 3.35 million to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), two million euros to the World Health Organization (WHO) and 1.25 million to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
