Speaking to the media in Brussels after the European People's Party (EPP) summit, Feijóo urged Sánchez not to turn foreign or EU policy into a personal or partisan interest and asserted that his party can say "yes to peace" out of democratic conviction and "not out of political opportunism." "The solutions to conflicts should never be war. They should be negotiation, diplomacy, and dialogue," he stated. According to the leader of the People's Party (PP), Sánchez is an "obstacle" to Europe, and there is "enormous concern" in the EU about the direction the Spanish government is taking, "which receives congratulations and applause from terrorist groups like Hezbollah and Hamas." He also accused Sánchez of distancing Spain from Western democracies and asserted that Spain is a reliable country, even if the current government is not. "Spain is a country that honors its international commitments, even though the current government is failing to do so, and it will once again be a country that can be trusted." "Firmness in the face of tyranny, unity in foreign policy, and ambition for a united and stronger Europe," proclaimed Feijóo, who denounced "the inconsistency" of those who invoke international law but then remain silent in the face of the atrocities committed by the Iranian regime or the Venezuelan dictatorship of Maduro. Furthermore, Feijóo stated that the EU-Gibraltar Agreement affects Spain's sovereignty and, therefore, must be submitted for consideration and a vote in the Congress.
