Guillermo Escribano, Spain’s new ambassador to Honduras

Eduardo González The Council of Ministers appointed Guillermo Escribano as Spain's ambassador to Honduras on Tuesday, March 10. He replaces Diego Nuño García, who was appointed Ambassador on Special Mission to the Sahel at the same Council of Ministers meeting. Born in Madrid in 1974, Escribano holds a law degree and has been a member of the diplomatic corps since 2003. He previously served as head of the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Promotion at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and as head of service in the Sub-Directorate General for the Middle East (2003-2004). In addition, he has served at the Spanish Embassies in Germany (Secretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs from 2004 to 2008), Morocco (Cultural Counselor from 2008 to 2012), the Philippines (Secretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs from 2015 to 2018), and Poland (Deputy Head of Mission from 2018 to 2021). In 2021, he held the positions of Deputy Director General for Coherence in Foreign Action and Advisor in the Cabinet of the Minister of Territorial Policy, before being appointed, in November of that same year, Director General of Spanish in the World, a newly created position by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares. He held this post—reporting to the State Secretariat for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World—until August 2025, when he was replaced by Mónica Colomer de Selva.
