The Danish Embassy promotes mobility for the elderly and people with disabilities

Julio García The Danish Embassy hosted the signing of an institutional collaboration agreement this Wednesday between the Spanish Society of General Practitioners and Family Physicians (SEMG) and the association Cycling Without Age (EBSE) Spain, whose objective is to promote and facilitate the mobility and social connection of the elderly and people with disabilities. According to SEMG, the event was held at the Danish Embassy because it is the birthplace of Cycling Without Age, an international movement born in Copenhagen that uses special tricycles to restore mobility, fresh air, and social connection to the elderly and people with disabilities, combating loneliness and improving their quality of life. The agreement was signed by Asunción Gracia, representing the Presidency of SEMG, and Antonio Peña, president of Cycling Without Age Spain, in the presence of the Danish Ambassador to Spain, Michael Braad, and aims, among other objectives, to generate a positive impact on the overall health of the vulnerable population. Through this alliance, both organizations have reached a three-pronged commitment. Firstly, they will promote training by developing joint programs for healthcare professionals and EBSE volunteers (pilots, companions, and managers). “This collaboration will enrich both parties and, most importantly, the patients and users we serve. Combining the scientific evidence of Family Medicine with the emotional impact of EBSE's rides is a natural step towards more humane healthcare,” stated Antonio Peña, president of En Bici Sin Edad España (Cycling Without Age Spain).
