As part of the 45th edition of ARCOmadrid, the Embassy of Colombia, and as part of the Cultural Diplomacy Strategy of Colombia, will present on March 6 at the Centro Cultural Gabriel García Márquez the exhibition El futuro es botánico: ciencia, vivencias y relaciones de lo vivo (The future is botany: science, experiences and relationships of the living), a proposal that explores the links between humanity and nature from scientific, cultural and sensory perspectives.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 9 March until 14 May. Through photographic material, illustrated and sound, he proposes a narrative cartography that puts in dialogue the western science with knowledge and daily experiences of relationship with nature.
The opening will be held as part of the traditional institutional breakfast offered by the Embassy of Colombia as part of the ARCO GUEST Circuit. Also, will be presented the work Gonawhindá, by the Colombian artist Perkys, inspired by the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and made with traditional organic pigments.
As part of the official schedule, on Wednesday, March 4 at 7 p.m., in the Bolívar Hall of the Casa de América in Madrid, there will be a round table discussion entitled El futuro es botánico (The future is botanic), with free entry until full capacity.
The evolutionary botanist Óscar Alejandro Pérez-Escobar, a researcher at the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew, London) and Carmen Posada Monroy, an expert in food systems, sustainability and ecology, will participate. The conversation will be moderated by the Colombian curator María Wills and will propose a reflection on the future of art and nature conservation.
