From 19 February to 8 March, the play Ni flores, ni funeral, ni cenizas, ni tantán (No flowers, no funeral, no ashes, no tantan), a performance, written by María Goiricelaya, will be shown in the Juan de la Cruz Hall of the Teatro de La Abadía (Fernández de los Ríos Street, 42), that talks about accompaniment and the good of dying, but from a compassionate and kind gaze.
The Camino de Santiago served María Goiricelaya and Ane Pikaza, of the company La Dramática Errante, as a backdrop to talk about a story of improvement, care and farewell. Ni flores, ni funeral, ni cenizas, ni tantán is a scenic road-trip full of humor, tenderness and reflection.
Between 2019 and 2021, when Spain was debating the Palliative Care Law and approving the regulation of Euthanasia in our country, a series of farewells took place around María Goiricelaya and Ane Pikaza that made the Basque creators think about how they wanted to die and what it meant to die well.
The work tells the story of Santi and Ana, a father and daughter who make the Camino de Santiago as a metaphor for the path that is life. Are we prepared to accompany someone in the last days? Is there time for joy in farewell? Do I want to die before I lose my abilities? These and other questions can be raised by the audience as they leave the room.
Founded in 2021 by María Goiricelaya and Ane Pikaza, La Dramática Errante arises with a vocation to create shows committed to the reality that surrounds us, exploring its contradictions and developing a unique language in each proposal. La Dramática Errante has established itself as a company thanks to its numerous nominations for the Max Awards. Only in 2023 did it receive the highest number of nominations for Altsasu, who was at La Abadía, and Yerma. The latter finally won the award for Best Theatrical Adaptation for the text signed by María Goiricelaya. Thus, the creative tandem formed by both artists is consolidated as one of the most interesting and powerful proposals in the current state theater scene.
