Tomorrow, Wednesday at 7 p.m., the Instituto Cervantes de Madrid (Alcalá street, 49) pays homage in its hall to one of the great contemporary poets, Joan Margarit (1938-2021). Restricted entry with confirmed invitation or booking on Eventbrite.
Poet and architect, Joan Margarit was born in Sanahuja (Lleida) and was a professor of structural calculus at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona. Author of an extensive and renowned poetic work, he wrote mainly in Catalan and translated many of his books into Spanish. Among its most emblematic titles are Joana, Casa de Misericordia or Estación de Francia. In 2019 he received the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, the highest award for literature in Spanish.
The tribute will feature the participation of Ramón Andrés, Juan Cruz, Pepa Fernández, Jordi Gràcia, Lola Larumbe and Mónica Margarit, as well as special interventions by Joan Manuel Serrat and Ana Belén.
The act will include a musical performance by Miguel Poveda, accompanied on piano by Joan Albert Amargós, and will be presented by Luis García Montero and Emil Rosales. It is possible to follow the event online on the Institute’s website or through its YouTube channel.
