For the first time, Romania participated in the MOMAD Fashion Fair held at IFEMA in Madrid from 5 to 7 February. The capital of Spain became the stage for Romanian creativity, where nine designers presented their autumn collections.
Valuing innovation, creativity and a contemporary vision, Romanian designers brought new perspectives to one of the most influential international platforms in the sector.
Under Romanian Designers/RD, the designers who exhibited their collections at the Romania stand were: Ioana Ciolacu, Irina Schrotter, AtuBodyCouture, Tearless Street, Mihaela Glavan, DeCorina Hats, Wicked.33, ARAH and Lenka.
The Embassy of Romania in Spain has valued “especially the presence of Romanian designers in this initiative to promote the potential of the Romanian fashion sector in Spain, in Madrid”, one of the most relevant fashion showcases worldwide, together with Milan, Paris, London and New York.
On the first day, the Romanian designers inaugurated the programme of activities of the MOMAD Catwalk, a space that integrates parades and discussions with experts in the sector, in order to offer a complete overview of the industry.
Romanian participation in MOMAD was supported by the Romanian Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade (ARICE) and the Association FIT – Future in Textiles.
Also, and as already reported by The Diplomat, the Instituto Cultural Rumano presents throughout this month of February the exhibition Transylvanian Design Week, a fascinating immersion in the creative universe of the Transylvania region.
The exhibition brings together the most outstanding projects from the 2023 and 2025 editions of the biennial Transylvanian Design Week, presenting the works of 20 designers that offer a contemporary look on how traditions and cultural heritage are reinterpreted through design (fashion, object, jewellery, experimental animation and art installations).
