The Government of Spain has welcomed the announcement of the ceasefire agreement between the Syrian Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, “an essential step for the stability of Syria, to end the violence, move towards a definitive cessation of hostilities, and allow greater access to humanitarian aid.”

In a statement released this Friday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Spanish Government reiterates “its firm commitment to a peaceful, inclusive political transition that fully respects the rights of all Syrians, without exclusions or discrimination.” “Only a process that listens to all parties and guarantees the effective participation of Syrian society as a whole can lay the foundations for lasting peace,” it adds.

Furthermore, the Government of Spain “underlines the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of Syria, essential principles for the country’s reconstruction and for regional stability.” “Spain will continue to support international efforts aimed at stabilizing Syria and the entire region,” the statement concludes.
