Next Tuesday, February 3 at 11 am, the Fundación Alternativas presents the round table entitled The European Union and Spain before Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence is entering a phase of consolidation and acceleration, driven by generative AI and large language models, which have radically expanded its capabilities. This scenario requires the European Union to have a strategy that combines innovation, technological sovereignty, economic competitiveness and protection of fundamental rights.
Europe has the opportunity to lead a reliable, ethical and people-centred technological model, integrating R&D, social protection and international cooperation.
The document highlights the need to increase public and private investment in AI, strengthen the European capital market, boost training and retraining, and promote an inclusive and fair digital transformation, avoiding new social and economic gaps.
The event will be attended by Diego López Garrido, executive vice president of the Fundación Alternativas; Celia Fernández Aller, professor at ETS of Computer Systems Engineering at UPM and co-author of the report; Sandra Parthie (online connection), president of the EESC Employers’ Group; José Cándido Varela, responsible for AI and digitalization at UGT Confederal, and Antón Costas, chairman of the President of the Economic and Social Council (CES). Moderated by Nicolás Sartorius, director of the Advisory Board of the Fundación Alternativas.
Registration to attend in person can be done at this link. Also, you can follow the round table on YouTube.
