Casa Asia and Cine Paz present ‘New perspectives of Asian cinema’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In collaboration with Casa Asia, Asian cinema returns to the cinemas of Cine Paz (calle de Fuencarral, 125) with the cycle Nuevas miradas del cine asiático, (New perspectives of Asian cinema) a programming that extends until next 28 March every Saturday at 12 o’clock.

Although it seems a cliché to say that the Spanish distributors are showing an interest, not so recent, in having a growing repertoire of titles coming from Asia, in general, the truth is that Asian cinema has a growing presence not only in national and international festivals, but also in our cinemas.

The films to be screened between January and March come from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Korea, the Philippines, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. The Great Indian Kitchen (India, 2021) by Jeo Baby opens this quarter’s program. The list of titles presented maintains interest in social drama and gender issues, from a multiplicity of perspectives that responds to the cultural identity of its protagonists. That’s what we are told by films made between 2021 and 2025 such as: Sweet As (Australia), The Wrestler (Bangladesh), Virgin Forest (Philippines), 3670 (Korea), Gone with the Boat (China), The Land Where the Winds Stood Still (Kazakhstan), Gunjal (Pakistan), A Childless Village (Iran), Declaration  (India) and Good Luck (Japan). In all cases the intention is to facilitate the vision of a world or many worlds that are difficult to access if it were not through literature and film.
