<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The Council of Ministers approved the appointment of Victoria Ortega as Spain's ambassador to Poland on Tuesday, December 16. She replaces Ramiro Fernández Bachiller, who has held the post since May 2022. </strong></h4> A member of the diplomatic corps since 2005, Victoria Ortega has dedicated a significant part of her career to European affairs. She began her work at the central services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy European Correspondent. Subsequently, she served as an advisor on European affairs in the Minister's Office, a period that included Spain's Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2010. Later, she held the positions of Head of the Department of Cooperation with the Arab World and Asia and Director of the Office of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Abroad, she served at the Spanish Embassy in Israel and at the Spanish Mission to the United Nations (New York), where she was part of the Security Council team during the 2015-2016 term. Since January 2022, she has held the position of Coordinating Counselor at the Spanish Mission to the European Union, where she was part of the team for the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2023.
