The deadline for submitting applications to the 3rd Edition of the Friendship Award of Casa Árabe is 23 January 2026.
The award aims to recognize the work of individuals and institutions that have contributed in a remarkable way to strengthen the bonds of coexistence, harmony and understanding between the Arab and Spanish societies.
With this award, Casa Árabe wishes to pay tribute to those who promote intercultural dialogue, mutual knowledge and respect and cooperation in the social, academic, cultural, economic, scientific or technological fields, contributing to deepening a relationship based on shared knowledge, empathy and friendship.
The jury’s decision will be made public in the week of 16-20 February. The prize will be awarded at an event in Casa Árabe, the date of which will be published in due course.
The prize will consist of a sculpture by the prestigious artist Rachid Koraïchi to be presented in a special ceremony organized by Casa Árabe. The award winner will also be invited to attend the ceremony, which may take place at either of the two venues of Casa Árabe.
In previous editions, the prize went to professor emeritus of the Autonomous University of Madrid Waleed Saleh Alkhalifa (2024) and to the arabist and editor Carmen Ruiz Bravo-Villasante (2023). In 2024 the jury also awarded an honorary mention of the prize posthumously to Federico Arbós Ayuso, translator and professor at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
The terms of the award and the application form can be found on the website of Casa Árabe.
