Last Friday, Ambassador Thamir Al Alawi celebrated the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman with a reception to the Diplomatic Corps.
In his very brief speech, the Omani ambassador first of all wanted to highlight the recent visit of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said to Spain, which he described as a “success”. “With the 11 agreements that have been signed and the opening of the Plenary Consulate in Barcelona, said Ambassador Thamir Al Alawi, we can be sure that relations between Oman and Spain are living their best moment. A state of bilateral cooperation which we also hope to achieve with the Principality of Andorra.”
The ambassador concluded by wishing to convey his “sincere thanks from the Government of Oman to their Majesties the Kings and the Government of Spain, to the Spanish authorities, to the staff of the Embassy, to all the friends of Oman in Spain”. He also thanked the Banda de Música of the Municipal Police of Madrid present at the reception, who performed the national hymns of the two countries at the beginning of the event.
To conclude the event, a video of the best images of the recent state visit of the Sultan of Oman to Spain and his meeting with the Kings, President Pedro Sánchez and the Spanish authorities was projected.
