The Spanish government condemned on Wednesday the two terrorist attacks perpetrated the previous day in Pakistan that left at least twelve dead and reiterated its “unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms.”

At least twelve people were killed and more than twenty wounded on Tuesday in a suicide bombing near a courthouse in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. Separately, on the same day, Pakistani troops thwarted an attack against the Cadet College Wana military campus in the South Waziristan district.

“The Government of Spain strongly condemns the attacks perpetrated yesterday in Islamabad and South Waziristan, which have caused deaths and dozens of injuries, and reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release. “Spain conveys its condolences to the families of the victims, its wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded, and its solidarity with the friendly people and government of Pakistan,” it concluded.

The attack has been claimed by the armed group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Pakistani Taliban. The capital is on high alert, and Pakistani Defense Minister Jawaja Asif declared the country “in a state of war,” attributing the attacks to “those who take refuge under the protection of the Taliban regime” in Afghanistan. He warned that Pakistan could “retaliate in kind.”
